Title: A vision-based edge extraction method used for ultrafast laser auto-modification of the freeform surface component

Abstract: This paper aims to put forward a vision-based edge extraction method for the free-form surface component. The method improves the accuracy of the modification and is used for ultrafast laser auto-modification. Firstly, the reference edge is extracted from the reference point cloud model which is converted from design model. Secondly, we calculate the pose deviation of the measured model and the reference model, and then achieve the matching between edge which extracted from the previous step and the measured model. Finally, the motion of each axis is calculated by established motion model. The experimental result represents the accuracy of proposed method is better than 0.09mm, while the edge points are smoothly and orderly. The kinematics simulation for obtained control code verify the correctness of the 5-axis motion calculation.
